Thursday, January 18, 2024
Thanks to Simplified MFG's Richard Kwasneski for summarizing their HDMI extender line so you can quickly and easily pick out the right one for your application.

EXACKT
“Wireless” 1080p on AC power. Converts AV to H.265 and transmits it over AC with IR back to TX (kit included) Use where a retro is not possible.
EXMICRO2I
Great “everyday” device, supports 18Gbps (4K/UHD), cuts CEC, has control system capable IR and EDID mgmt. Great price, our most popular extender. Use as “everyday extender”.
EXMICRO2ISW
This is an EXMICRO2i with a two-port switch and an added optical out on the RX. Like the 2i, it powers on one end (either) and is low current draw, small and extremely reliable. Use when you have two sources, or need an audio breakout at RX.

EX1L
The major differences in the EX1L are, 120M of distance @4K/UHD, CEC is active, supports DolbyVision, where the MICRO device support up to HDR10+, add RS-232, & audio breakout at TX (3.5mm mini) and RX (3.5mm mini and optical) Use when you need CEC, more control features, distance, or audio breakout, or any combination thereof. Use as an enhanced “everyday extender”.

EXARC
Use where you want to send 18Gbps AV with control (IR and RS-232) to the display while simultaneously bringing back ARC audio to the switch and or AVR. There is an ARC only extender called the ARCEX that only brings back ARC and CEC control if you do not need AV to the display.
EXEARC1
Use where you want to send 18Gbps AV with control (IR and RS-232) to the display while simultaneously bringing back eARC (fully uncompressed Atmos and Dolby Digital plus) audio to the switch and or AVR.
EX2ARC
Primarily used when you need an Ethernet pass-thru in addition to many of the other features. The EX2ARC has a sophisticated audio circuit that allows you to bring back ARC to Optical, Optical to Optical, or break out the audio from the source at the TX.
EXKVM2
Same device as the EX2ARC, but with two added features. The ARC from the display can come back through the HDMI (planned change to EX2ARC) and has USB 2.0 pass-thru. Use when you need USB or when you need the ARC to come back through HDMI.
EX3-8K
This is a “super version” of the EXKVM2. The same basic features are there, but vastly improved. This device supports 40Gbps (8K and 4K @120Hz.) on category cable. The Ethernet is 1Gbps instead of 100Mbps. The return audio is eARC. There is a separate stereo audio send and receive. And last you can forego the eARC and return a 1080p 24Hz. video signal from RX to TX. Use when you need more AV capability or when you need 1Gbps Ethernet or when you are short on useable cat and need the audio, USB, enhanced Ethernet, etc.
